Little Snake In Park Drainage Ditch

If the weather is decent I go for a mid-morning walk almost everyday. Sometimes several blocks around the neighborhood but sometimes in the park and down to the creek across from my house.

In this picture you can see how this low area drains into the creek in the background.

When I walk to the creek I take my slingshot and plink at things in the water.  But this time I had something to plink at before I got to the creek.


As I walked along the concrete drain and neared the creek a two foot long snake was headed the same way.

He kept swimming and I kept walking and shooting. I only had small 1/4 inch steel practice ammo. My third shot hit his little head and stopped him. I walked back by on my way home to be sure he was dead.

I would not use a firearm of any kind in this place. I would have been reluctant to use an air gun or bow.  The slingshot was perfect.
